O G-Battle Lisbon 2026 is the meeting point where analytical precision merges with sensory intuition. In this challenge of filter methods, focused on community and high technology, the goal is simple but demanding: the perfect extraction of a highly complex Geisha coffee.
With 33 participants (among professional baristas and enthusiasts) vying for the title, the competition follows a high-intensity direct elimination format. In groups of three, the competitors take to the stage with the world's most advanced “survival kit”: the versatility of the Goat Story Gina, the precision of the mills Commander C40, the speed of the filters Sibarist and the exact chemistry of minerals APAX Lab. Each person has 15 minutes to tame the Geisha coffee and present their best version.
Judgement mirrors the digital age: judges taste blindly and feedback emerges instantly on the screens through a CATA system. No secrets. All the data, from sweetness to clarity, is shared in real time with the public.
In the heart of Coffee Market at 8 Marvila, G-Battle becomes a collaborative experience. A G-Battle It's where science meets the soul. This is a battle of Brewing (filter coffee) focused on community and sensory experience, using the world's most advanced equipment and highly complex Geisha coffee. No frills, just the perfect extraction.

The Environment Collaborative and educational. We share extractions, we share knowledge, and we get excited about TDS and minerals.
The competition is divided into three decisive phases:
Elimination rounds: Groups of 3 compete against each other. The winner of each group advances.
Semi-finals The 9 best winners compete for a place in the final.
The Grand Final: The 3 finalists receive a mystery, world-class Geisha coffee, live on stage, to battle for the trophy.
Each competitor follows a strict but professional stage routine:
Introduction to Equipment Masterclass + Coffee Lift: On Friday, 27th March, from 4:00 PM, you will have a practical introduction to water mineralisation, learn key extraction techniques with Gina, and pick up your Geisha coffee in person. Location: Competition area next to the Bourbon Stage.
Mandatory attendance – there will be no alternative to collecting the coffee.
Preparation Workshop (40 min): On Saturday, you'll have time to test the water, minerals and equipment.
Stage Time (15 min): You have 15 minutes to adjust the recipedial inPrepare your best cup.
Cleaning and leaving (5 min): The stations must be left spotless for the next group.
The Service: Serve exactly 150ml of coffee on the server provided (labelled with your QR code). No oral presentation is required – the coffee speaks for itself.
The judges will assess the Flavours, Aftertaste, Acidity, Texture, and Balance of each drink from the perspective of Complexity and Perceived Quality, using the CATA system for quick feedback.
Competitors will be able to see feedback on their drinks in real time.
We offer the ultimate amusement park for Brewing. You don't need to bring anything, but you can bring support tools.

Water: 1L Zero Water + 500ml of Third Wave Water concentrate 1000 ppm.

“Competitor's ”Extras": You can bring thermometers, refractometers, or cooling tools, but You cannot replace the provided grinder, extraction system or filters.
3 Sensory Judges: Focussed entirely on cup quality and preference.
Instant feedback: All the judges' comments are displayed on screen so that the public and competitors can learn in real time.
Respect: Collaborative behaviour is mandatory. We are here to learn and celebrate excellent coffee together.
We believe all who grace the stage deserve recognition, but the top extracts will take home the kit of Brewing definitive.
