Lisbon Coffee Week

Sustainability and accessibility

Lisbon Coffee Week's mission is to create an increasingly sustainable event with a minimal environmental footprint, promoting social sustainability and constantly seeking solutions for a better future.

1. We prioritise and request that all our partners use materials that facilitate recycling/composting processes and we encourage minimal waste creation and the use of ethical sustainability practices;

2. As in previous editions, we only use vegetable drinks instead of animal milk, in order to reduce the environmental footprint of the drinks extracted at the event;

3. As in previous editions, we will continue to use reusable cups and no single-use consumables;

4. We promote the channelling of surplus materials to second-hand markets;

5. We promote effective and efficient energy management among our partners and implement the routine of switching on equipment at night to ensure lower energy consumption;

6. We organise workshops and talks focusing on sustainability in the world of coffee;

7. We inform visitors of all the public transport options and sustainable alternatives available to facilitate access to the event and, if distance allows, travelling by bicycle or on foot;

8. We use the cashless for a more practical, safe and efficient event;

9. We communicate the objectives in terms of waste prevention and separation to all stakeholders, namely partners, exhibitors, cleaning teams and visitors;

10. We communicate with visitors the sustainable practices adopted at the event and sensitise all our team members to good environmental practices;

11. We avoid distributing leaflets at the event, favouring publicity and communication through digital media and giving our flyers and event guides a second use.

12. We provide specific containers for different types of waste, distributed in a circuit that covers the entire festival site, with clear signage to ensure the correct separation and recycling of waste;

13. We offer free and secure bike parking on the festival site. Visitors just need to bring a lock for their bike;

14. We have implemented a network of accessible routes throughout the venue, from the entrance to the toilets, first aid post, reserved areas in front of the stages and other key points, ensuring the comfortable and safe movement of people with reduced mobility.

15. Drinking water dispensers are available on the premises.

16. At the end of the event, we reported the results in terms of the amount of material sent for recycling, meals donated, CO2 emissions avoided, calculated on the basis of the amount of material sent for recycling and composting, and good prevention practices implemented.
