Thiago Souza is Brazilian, from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and a cook by training.
He got into speciality coffee not because he liked the drink, but because he had a vision that it was what he should do. In 2015, he moved to the Serra do Caparaó region, which produces the best coffees in Brazil, to specialise in the area. His innate curiosity and perfectionism led him to study the stages of the production process from planting, learning directly from the producers in the fields, right through to the cup. He slowly realised the complexity and countless possibilities in the production and market of speciality coffee. He trained as a Barista, Roast Master and Taster. However, he believes that it is in the intense, daily work carried out over the last 8 years, at the coffee roaster and tasting tables, with the exchange of experiences with other good professionals, that he acquires his best skills.
Coffee came so strongly into his life that he was eventually invited to work at Torra Roasting Coffees in Lisbon. Since arriving in Portugal four years ago, he has integrated himself into the local speciality coffee community, made friends and helped several other colleagues with his dedication and professionalism.
Every day, he has the privilege of delivering quality coffee to the cups of thousands of people. He is also a musician, husband to Liliana and father to Arthur, Gael and Sophia.
